IRI UK APPOINTS NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR IN THE UK
BRACKNELL, UK – 7 January 2009 – Information Resources Inc (IRI), the leading global provider of consumer, shopper and market insights for the consumer packaged goods, retail, and healthcare industries, today announced the appointment of a new Managing Director in the UK.
Following a review of the UK business’ strategic direction and an assessment of key opportunities and management imperatives, Jeremy McNamara has decided to leave IRI UK. Prior to becoming Managing Director of the UK business in 2006, McNamara was the Finance Controller for Europe
McNamara will be succeeded by Blair Ruelens, previously Group Director and Executive Vice President for Global Sales with Cadbury Schweppes plc (London), where he had full general management and cross functional responsibility as global head of the 16,000 strong beverage and confectionery sales organization. Here Ruelens led a number of strategic growth initiatives in areas such as retailer collaboration (including personal leadership of the strategic relationships with Wal-Mart, Tesco and Carrefour) as well as a series of best practice operational innovations designed to improve efficiency and profitability. Ruelens will report to Nigel Howlett, IRI’s President – International, who joined from OgilvyOne Worldwide last year.
Prior to joining Cadbury Schweppes, Ruelens held senior sales positions with General Mills, Pillsbury and XL Foods, having started his career at Procter and Gamble, where he served in a number of Sales and Marketing roles over 17 years. A Canadian, Ruelens graduated from York University, Toronto with a BA Hons in Business and Urban Planning.
Commenting on the appointment Howlett said, “I am delighted to have hired an executive of such outstanding calibre. The UK market presents us with a wide range of opportunities which we need to swiftly develop. As we continue our transformation from just data and insights delivery to a truly collaborative solutions business, we are increasingly partnering with FMCG and Retail companies to provide critical decision support solutions which can fundamentally transform their return on sales and marketing resources.
